Vintage Hearts

I recently bought some Sizzix Framelit Heart dies and have been making good use of them!!  I love hanging hearts and have several different types hung in my room.  I recently purchased a nice large slate one which I can use to jot down things that I need to remember.  At the moment it has details of the Vintage Chic Wedding Cupcake decorating course I am going along to on 16 March with Custom Cake Classes - I was due to do this course in December but the class got cancelled, hope this one gets enough people booked onto it!

I've been making some vintage inspired felt hanging hearts in a lovely vibrant red felt.

I bought another doily die last week from ebay - I have quite a few doily dies and love them.  Some of them like the Cheery Lyn ones look fab but do not cut very easily and you have to keep moving the die around and run it back and forth in your die cutting machine.  The one I bought last week was a newish one from Xcut and it cuts like a dream.  Some of the bits get stuck in the die but that's fine, I can live with that so long as it cuts the card properly without too much effort!  It's part of the Vintage Notes range.  I also bought a couple of the stamps from that range and the paper pack.  The die is retailing for around £9.99 but I got it on ebay for £7.99 - there is a lovely heart die in this range as well which I will be getting next!!

Here is the lovely heart one that I want!!!

Thanks for popping by!!

Cakes, Cakes and More Cakes!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok today.  I've spent the day at home in the kitchen today and have chicken bubbling away in the Slow Cooker for dinner and I've baked 2 cakes and they are cooking nicely as I type!!  I saw an alternative Christmas Cake recipe in a store magazine where you use 2 jars of sweet mincemeat - to any of my American readers this is not meat at all but a mixure of spices and fruits in a jar usually used to make little tarts at Christmas!!  If the cakes come out nice then I will share the recipe tomorrow with you!!  Recipe here!!

On the subject of cakes, I wanted to tell you about my sister Hayley who makes custom celebration cakes and decorative cupcakes.  She has made some fantastic cakes and they taste delicious!!  She is known as The Sugar Plum Fairy and you can find her over on Facebook here.  She is based in Bristol and is always eager to try out new designs and ideas so feel free to contact her via Facebook or through my blog.

Here are some of here lovely cakes

You can see more of Hayley's fab creations over on her facebook page.

A Fab New Magazine!

Just wanted to let you know about a fab new magazine that I bought a few days back.  It's called 'Simply Homemade' and costs £3.99 - I bought my copy at Tesco but I'm sure W H Smiths will have it as well.

It is packed with all sorts of interesting ideas and tutorials on a variety of crafts.  I like the fact that it's not just about one craft and it certainly held my interest much longer than usual!  There are some great links in the mag including some interesting blogs.  They have tutorials on knitting, sewing, soap making, papercrafts, cardmaking, cooking and stencilling and lots of templates to use.

These cakes look lovely!!!

This months copy come with some free Molly Blooms Cupcake Stamps and some Kaisercraft papers.

Has anyone else bought this magazine and if so whch were your favourite articles??   I liked the 'Favourite Jumper Bag' tutorial where they made a bag out of a knitted hoodie, 'Bags of Style' - a lovely bag made out of the loveliest fabrics and 'Jean Genius' using a pair of jeans to make a bag, a bag charm, a purse and a corsage.
