Sock Owl

I was recently asked if I could make a Sock Owl so I had a go and was really pleased with the result.

I enjoyed making this little fella and will be making more of these after Christmas.

He is a mini one and is 6 inches high, I may try a larger one as well next time.

What do you think of him - I think he is quite cute!!!!

Christmas at Tenderfoot!!

If anyone is in the Bristol area on Saturday, pop along to Tenderfoot on Wick Road, Brislington where they are having a Christmas event 'Yule Love It'!!  A Christmas Shopping Extravaganza!!!  Lots of handcrafted gifts made by local artists.  You might even spot some of my makes there!!!

Hello America!!!!

There has been a huge interest from the US about a post that I made on here last December about some flannel reindeers that I was making to sell at a Christmas Fair.

I've not made any this year as I didn't do any Christmas Fairs due to the fact I was too busy with internet orders!!!

It's lovely to see the interest that my reindeers have generated and I'm just sorry that I'm not able to spare the time to do a tutorial at present!  I've not even started my own Christmas shopping yet!!

***UPDATE*** - I've done a Tutorial which can be found here!

It's Been a Long Time!!

Well - I took a little break from blogging and that turned into a bigger one than I had planned!!!

I've been busy doing lots of sewing and had quite a few orders for Christmas to get completed.  I'm nearly there now!!

One of the things I've made this year that has been very popular is my Gingerbread Bunting.  Eight little felt gingerbread men and ladies on some rustic twine with a mini peg at each end to fix it up.

This is what they look like

I've also made some larger felt tree decorations

I've also found my mini sock cats have been popular, quite abit smaller than my usual sock kitties but very sweet!!

I have not yet done any Christmas shopping but as I only have close family to buy for it shouldn't be too bad!!

I've some more things to show you but I will save them for another day!!

Thanks for staying with me!

Little Gingerbread Men!

Today I have a really heavy cold so didn't feel up to doing much.  I have several orders in for my little gingerbread bunting so have been stitching those ready to put on the string.
They are so tiny and fiddly to sew!

They are made of felt!!  Sorry that's in reply to question asked in a comment!!

Another Little Card!!

Here's another card that I made.  I needed to make a simple card to say thank you to someone and decided to use some of the new Marianne flowers and swirl dies I have recently bought as they are so pretty!

Here's the card

I think I am going to be making good use of these dies!!!!

Rocker Card

I've finally got around to finishing the rocker card that I made using the template in my previous post!

I really like the shape and of course the fact that it rocks when stood up.  I just need to find a 5 x 8 inch envelope for it now!

Here's my card

Do let me know if you've managed to use the template, would love to see your cards.

Rocker/Wobbler Card Template

Having recently seen some lovely rocker/wobbler cards that have been made from kits I thought I'd do a template so I could make my own.

You will need to print it out and place it on the fold of you card and cut around so that it's equal both sides of the card.  You may have to resize the template to suit your own needs.

It's a very rough template but hopefully it might help someone!

Now it's up to you to embellish it as you so wish!! I'd love to see your rocker cards, you can post a link to them under this post!! I'll be posting mine up when it's finished to show you how I got on!!

Thanks for looking!

Thank You........

Just like to say a big thank you to everyone that sent me their thoughts and wishes following the death of my Auntie.  It really meant alot to me to read them and know that you were all thinking of me.

The funeral is on Thursday and I'm not really looking forward to that.

Once again thanks for your support......

Taking a bit of a break

Just wanted to say to all of my followers that I will be taking a short break from my blog.  I have just lost my lovely Auntie Carol to cancer and to say I am devastated is an understatement.   Although we knew she was very ill, it was a still a huge shock when she passed away this morning.

I'll be back though so please stay following me.

Thanks

Bristol Harbour Festival

This weekend was the annual Bristol Harbour Festival.  It's a fab free event which has something for everyone whatever your age.

This year my dad expressed an interest in coming along as he had never been before, so the pair of us caught the bus into town for our day out!

The buses were packed and so was the motorway leading into the city.  When we got into town, the centre of Bristol was filled with people.  The water fountains in the city centre had an orange dye in them and were full of children!!

We started off by walking down one side of the harbour and went by numerous food stalls selling every kind of food you could think of!  We then crossed over to Queens Square where there was a French Market all around the square with more food stalls and on the green a large stage was set up with a band playing.  The grass area was full of people sitting down watching the band.  I don't think we could have found a space if we'd wanted to!!!!  There were more food and drink stalls set up around the green and the atmosphere was great.

We decided then to cross over the harbour to the opposite side but at the trumpet style bridge, they were only allowing people to cross from the other side so we had to walk back to where we had started. The other side was shady and cool and the pubs lining the waterside were packed!  We stopped off for a quick drink in Wetherspoons and then wandered around the little market that was there.  We heard some fantastic, lively music coming from a stage and made our way to it.  The group that were playing were called 'The Carny Villains' and they were brilliant.  They had so much energy and enthusiasm and the crowd loved them.  Both dad and I enjoyed the music and bought a cd from them afterwards.  If you want to hear how good they are here's one of their fab tracks

There was so much going on and such a nice community spirit.  There were people of all ages and all were having a great time.

The old Matthew ship was there and we were just in time to see it sailing off down the river.

Dad and I had a lovely day out and it was nice to spend time together as well!  I'd recommend this Festival as a 'must see' if you are in the Bristol area for next year's event!

Fab Fabric Giveaway at It's All About The Fabric!!

Just wanted to let you know about a fantastic fabric giveaway over on It's All About the Fabric.  It's to celebrate Emma's new website - The Fabric Market Place so head on over to It's All About the Fabric and enter!!

A Few New Makes

I've not been very good at blogging recently.  I just don't seem to get time to blog and I am very behind on commenting on other people's blogs as well!

I've been making some bit of jewellery which are on my Facebook page and on Folksy.  I've also been trying to get start an Etsy shop and get to grips with Twitter - still can't see what all the fuss is about with Twitter I'm afraid and get bored as people just seem to mostly retweet about competitions that they've entered which I don't really want to know about!!!

Anyway - I've made some memory wire bracelets which I think always look nice.  I never use seed beads to fill the wires so hopefully should have a nice selection of glass/lampwork beads on the ones that I make.  Here are a few for you to see

and have made a few things with glass tiles

and I've done some sock monkeys which will be going onto Folksy later today

I'm working on a mini sock cat at the moment as I had a bundle of baby socks to do something with - it is looking really cute and I'll blog it once it's totally finished!!

Hope you are all keeping busy despite the awful weather we have been having.  It's difficult to plan anything in the UK, but I am planning a day out in London for my niece as her birthday present.  We plan to take an open top bus around the city and do a river cruise and go on the London Eye.  Although I've been to London many times and stayed with friends for several days in the past, I have never done the tourist spots!!  It should be a great day out and hopefully the weather will be nicer in August - I said hopefullly!!!

Bye for now!
