Baby Card for a Girl

Today, I made a card for a baby girl.  I have some new dies and wanted to try a couple out.

I love using gingham papers on baby cards, I think they look really nice!!!  In this card, I've used 2 sizes of gingham in different shades of pink.  I used my Nesties Label 1 to cut the mats and the wording is done using Cuttlebug Babyface Alphabet.  The bottle die is from Sizzix and I jazzed it up with some stickers that I got in the US.  The button is also from the Babyface Alphabet with some pink string that I bought recently in Hobbycraft.

Bits and Pieces!!

Just a quick post from me today.  When I got up I thought I was in a cardmaking mood but that soon left me!  Haven't really managed anything crafty today so far but have sat and undone some lovely jewellery bits I bought whilst in the US.  I got them in Old Navy in a sale.  There were some fab charms on the pieces I bought and lots of chain which I've just joined together.  I should be able to make several bracelets/necklaces out of it so just need to have a think of how to best use them.

Here they are - before this they were 2 necklaces and 1 bracelet.

A close up of the lovely charms

I've nearly finished a batch of 5 Sock Kitties and 2 Sock Monkeys - all just waiting to have their faces finished so will hopefully be able to show you those tomorrow!!  The monkeys are for an order as are a few of the kitties but I've done a few extra!!  Hope to try out a few other Sock Creations soon!!

Sizzix Sale

Have you seen the Sizzix Sale???  I stayed up late on Christmas Day as the sale was starting on 26 December but the website was so slow and kept crashing.  I then realised at checkout that the postage was a hefty £6.95 so decided that I would leave it.  I was so glad I did as they then reduced everything again giving up to 85% and I decided that I could now justify that postage charge!!!  I got 18 items, mostly dies and a few embossing folders. Some of the dies were only around 65p!!!

Yesterday, I received a despatch email and today they have arrived.

Guess what I will be doing later today!!!!

***Oohh just noticed I was charged £7.09 postage, I think they estimate it then charge the actual postage after so beware!!!!!***

Marianne Creatables - New Bird Cage Dies to Die for!!!!

I love vintage looking birdcages and if I had my own house and space I would buy a lovely large one - don't know what I would use it for but I would have one!!!

Maybe I could put a plant or candles in one!!!

The closest thing for me would be the Tim Holtz Birdcage Die but it is quite thick and I don't think it would go through my Cuttlebug well.  If anyone has tried it using a Cuttlebug and had success, please let me know!!!  The lovely Claire aka wanna-b-rich over on MSE has kindly offered to cut me some with her die for the time being.  Have a look at her blog, she makes some fantastic things.

Today, I came across some new Marianne Creatable  Dies - Birdcages, 2 different styles called Morocco and Tunis.  It looks like they are due to be released anytime now and are priced at £10.99 and they can be used on the Cuttlebug!!

Here they are

They also have some lovely Bird of Paradise and Fantasy Bird dies which will go beautifully with them!!!  A few more things for my wish list I think!!!!

****Just seen the Marianne Dies on ebay for £9.45 with free postage - looks like they are released tomorrow!!!!****

Footballer Birthday Card

I recently bought some fantastic 'Flippin Men' stamp sets from Imag-e-nation that had been reduced to just £1 a set instead of £9.99!!!!  They were so good that I went back and purchased some more!!

They stamp beautifully and as men are so difficult to make cards for they are ideal as they do them for several different interests!!!  They still have some left in their £1 shop just here and postage is free on orders over £5 so a real bargain!!!!

One of the sets was a football themed one and as it's my brother's birthday in a few days and he likes his football I used the stamps to make his card.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and cut it out and stuck it to the card with foam pads to raise it and used a freebie backing paper from the net.  I stamped the 'quote' on a circle shape and used some card candy coloured with Promarkers to make it look like a sign.  I then used foam pads to stick it to the card.  I used lots of Anita's 3D Gloss on the ball, cap, the number 2, the beer and the cap.  I also used it on the boots and ball on the quote.  I haven't put a 'Happy Birthday' sentiment on this card as I preferred the footie quote.  However, I have stamped a sentiment on the inside of the card.

Here's the finished card

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year to all of my lovely followers.  It was a very quiet New Year's Eve for me.  I was going to go to my brother's house but unfortunately one of my niece's was ill and vomiting the whole day so the evening was cancelled.  I spent the time making and stuffing a sock monkey!!!!  Exciting life I lead!!!

Here is the finished Sock Monkey - he was completed on New Year's Day so is my first make of the year.

Hope you all enjoyed your New Year's celebrations.  It was lovely to see the sky full of Chinese lanterns that people had lit and let go.  There were lots of them floating around and it was quite magical.

This year, one of the things I want to do is learn to drive.  I took lessons many years ago when I was 17 and failed my test.  I got quite upset and decided that was it and didn't ever take another lesson again.  I really regret that now as there are lots of things I would do if I could drive.

The other thing I want to do is reconnect with friends as in the last few years I have lost contact with lots of people.  I've managed to catch up with many people on Facebook wich is lovely but I intend to meet up with other friends more often as well.  It's easy to get lazy and sidetracked, it's also very easy to stay in and craft!!!

I hope that 2011 brings you all health and happiness and that you achieve all of your hopes and dreams.
